Ukrainian Delegation to Partake in Geneva’s Talks with Russia

(MENAFN) A Ukrainian delegation has set off for Geneva to participate in another phase of negotiations aimed at ending the conflict with Russia. The discussions, set for Feb. 17–18, will again be mediated by the United States, according to Kyrylo Budanov, who confirmed the trip on Monday.

In a post shared on Telegram, Budanov uploaded an image showing himself alongside two fellow delegates standing before a train carriage. He wrote: "Heading to Geneva. The next round of negotiations is ahead. On the way, we will discuss the lessons of our history with our colleagues and look for the right conclusions. Ukraine's interests must be protected."

Earlier this year, representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States convened for trilateral security discussions in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 23–24. The Russian delegation at that meeting was headed by Igor Kostyukov, who leads the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

A subsequent session was held in the same city on Feb. 4–5 as part of the continuing diplomatic effort.

Last week, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the upcoming negotiations would maintain the trilateral structure involving Russian, American, and Ukrainian officials. He indicated that the next round is scheduled to take place in Geneva on Feb. 17–18.
