Russia Says It Seized Control of Three Ukrainian Settlements

(MENAFN) Russia announced Monday that its troops have seized three additional settlements in eastern Ukraine, intensifying pressure along key front-line sectors as the war drags into its fifth year.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, forces secured the village of Kruhle in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. The settlement lies roughly 1.1 kilometers (0.6 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border, underscoring Moscow’s continued push near the northeastern frontier.

The ministry also reported advances in the Donetsk region, saying Russian troops captured the villages of Drobysheve and Riznykivka. Both communities are located near Kramatorsk, a strategically significant city that remains one of Ukraine’s final major strongholds in the east.

Kramatorsk has functioned as the administrative center of the Donetsk region since 2014, following the outbreak of conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities did not immediately respond to the claims. Independent confirmation of battlefield developments remains challenging amid active hostilities and restricted access to contested areas.
